On November 9, 1989, the GDR's first gay film, "Coming Out," celebrated its world premiere at East-Berlin's Kino International. Shortly after the curtain fell, the Berlin Wall did as well.

We pay tribute to this story of the venue with our film series Mongay, which takes place every Monday evening – and has been for over 25 years. The City Kinos in Munich have also joined us. And during renovations, the International is represented by other cinemas.

Men are becoming increasingly right-wing politically and increasingly lonely socially, men simply cannot deal with their emotions, and men continue to be responsible for the majority of all acts of violence: these statements reflect the entire plight of contemporary masculinity. The world seems to be full of brutally fragile guys.

It's time to take a closer look at them: in his live lecture Brutal Fragile Guys, Ole Liebl gets to the bottom of men and their feelings. What does the inability to feel have to do with anti-feminist radicalization on the internet? What are we overlooking when we assume that men have fewer feelings than women? How can you recognize toxic progressive men? Why are macho guys so often melancholic? How are women and queer people emotionally exploited? And what does Spider-Man have to do with all this? Entertaining, dense, and, despite the tough topics, equipped with a good dose of humor, Ole Liebl brings the results of modern masculinity research closer to us in an understandable way.

Barbara Pachl-Eberhart's autobiography of the same name became a bestseller in 2010. In it, she describes with great intensity and strength how she managed to rebuild her life after the tragic death of her family. Now Adrian Goiginger, a director celebrated for his very personal films—including DER FUCHS, which won a Silver Lola award—has adapted this moving life story for the screen.
We are showing the premiere of VIER MINUS DREI in the presence of director Adrian Goiginger, author Barbara Pachl-Eberhart, actress Valerie Pachner, and other members of the film crew.

The documentary film SIRI HUSTVEDT – DANCE AROUND THE SELF, which celebrated its world premiere in the Panorama section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, portrays Siri Hustvedt's unique way of living and thinking and connects her writing with the big themes of life: love and farewell – especially in connection with her deep personal and artistic bond with her husband, the writer Paul Auster. We are showing this touching portrait of one of the most important voices in contemporary literature as a preview before its regular theatrical release.
